Mattchew’s mention of The Secret Life Of Us compilation CDs in his “Waikiki Diaries” reminded me how much new music (all Australian) I got to like from listening to them. I only watched the TV series because Australian singer/actress Abi Tucker was in it, who I’d liked for years. And it was from watching that and buying the CDs that I discovered Waikiki, and then Howling Bells, so it was a good decision to tune in.
Anyway, here’s my list of Top Ten Australian Bands/Artists. Does anybody else have any other suggestions?
1) Howling Bells 2) Halogen 3) The Church 4) Magic Dirt 5) Jode Bonney 6) Eskimo Joe 7) Abi Tucker 8) Butterfly 9 9) Pollyanna/Matt Handley 10) Little Birdy

I think this is a good idea, although I had a bit of difficulty to come up with 10 (and still leave stuff like AC/DC and Airborne out of the list)
1. The Church 2. The Triffids 3. Howling Bells 4. Hoodoo Gurus 5. Sleepy Jackson 6. Crowded House 7. Silver Ray 8. The Saints 9. The Crystal Set 10. Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu
I´m sorry but Bells are only #3 on my aussie artist list. 1 and 2 are simply too influential to me.

Living here... I feel so previlege (sp?) of the quality of the acts here!
I highly recommend the following bands. I'll try to make it so that it's not a biased list, but more so a list for anyone to enjoy!
Tame Impala- I have been following these dudes right from the beginning and they've become one of the most loved bands down under!
The Middle East- such an under rated aussie band!
Sarah Blasko- i absolutely love Sarah Blasko. There's a warmth and safeness to her voice that is just so so inviting. Shes currently working in a super group called seeker lover keeper but the solo album she last released, As Day Follows Night... To every person I have recommended it to, they have all fallen in love!
Kimbra- She has just released her debut, Vows and I highly highly highly recommend this young lady. She's so versatile.
Gotye- He has recently released a new record but his album Like Drawing Blood is one of my all time faves.

I've heard of Sarah Blasko before but never heard any of her stuff. So I went Youtbubeing and the next thing I know I'm buying the album you mentioned - "As Day Follows Night".
I'm hooked - thank you lespino!!
She reminds me a bit if Emiliana Torrini and Sophie Zelmani (neither of whom are Australian).
