We know that Peter Stein, father of Juanita and Joel, is a musician and songwriter but I've never really thought before about what he has recorded, so I thought I'd find out. Here's a link to three albums he has made: www.cdbaby.com/Artist/PeterSteinThere are 30-second previews to all the songs. It's all very blues/folk-type stuff (not my thing) but what will interest us here is Peter's version of I'm Not Afraid Anymore, which is on his 2003 album Tear It Down. It's his song, don't forget! It's quite different to Howling Bells' version.

You're right the Bells' version is so different than his, Juanitas vocals sound much more sad.

Peter was a massive influence on their musical upbringing. Juanita once said that she and Joel couldn't rebel against their parents (like lots if kids do) by doing drugs and drink and stuff because Peter had already done it all, so nothing could shock him.
It appears that that kind of parenting worked out fine for all concerned!

Thanks for ref to me, yep i did do it all - or most of it, but im a good boy now, or should i say senior person. Im proud of my kids and my grandma jean who was born in Whitechapel lane actually in the early 1900's said Juanita would have a voice like honey coming from her mouth and Juan was only like 1 yr old at that time, so very insightful I think because it came true & Joel was playing Hendrix at 15 yrs old. So there.... best to y'all

Many thanks for your interest and contribution Peter. And for your offspring!! So we'd better be careful what we say - don't want to get on the wrong side of dad!

Hey, Peter, saw it was your b-day, so Happy Birthday! On the topic of birthdays, I saw on Glenn's myspace page it said his b-day is Dec.11, so now we know what day Glenn was born too.

Hi its Peter here, thanks for that...appreciate that. yep the music things big in our family. not sure where it came from except my old dad said when or before I was born he'd look in shop windows at violins and wanted me his son to be a violinist. I did it for a while when I was young but then I got a guitar for my birthday and it was love at 1st sight. Havent looked back since ... odd eh! Anyhow the kids are writing some cracker tunes which I guess one day you'll all hear - thanks again, Cheers Pete

Many thanks Mattchew for collecting so many of Peter's songs in one place. The one with Juanita was obviously the first one I clicked on.
And Peter, thanks to you for your continued interest here, and I hope you will soon upload "Still Waters" to your Youtube channel.
