I've managed to track down a recording of the Stephen Merchant show from last December (isn't this internet thingy wonderful?). When I've extracted the Howling Bells bit I'll stick it up here.

I'll have to go through my CDs and see if there's any I have that you're missing Blade. I'll let you know. In the meantime thanks in advance for the Stephen Merchant sesssion, I didn't even know they'd done this one!

You'll find the Stephen Merchant session here: www.megaupload.com/?d=7ZAEE5KYIt's mp3, about 15 minutes long and 14MB. There's a bit of intermittent distortion between about 12 minutes and 13 minutes - that annoying squeaky stuff you sometimes get with digital broadcasts. Nowt to do with me - it was on the original. Fortunately it's not during either of the tunes. The question and answer bit at the end is hilarious. P.S. ledjarde - if you have anything I don't have I'd be most grateful for a copy. Ta.

A few weeks ago I found a guy on the www called Steve Doughty who has a massive catalogue of live recordings and offers an exchange service. Here's his list: homepage.ntlworld.com/stevedoughty/tapes.txtI was delighted to find he has some of the missing Howling Bells live radio sessions, so exchanged some of my live recordings for these and the gig at the O2 Islington, 9th February 2009. Steve's list doesn't specify what the radio sessions are so I was hoping for the best. The CD arrived and I have some of them already, but there are three I didn't have: Tom Robinson show, 18th May 2006 - unfortunately poorly edited with no talking/interviews. Steve Lamacq show, 10th April 2006 Mark Radcliffe show, 2nd November 2006 I am dead happy! When I have ripped them from the CD I will upload them and post them here, along with the Islington gig. This is the one where they (or somebody!) totally screwed up Setting Sun and they played Britney's Toxic for the only time (as far as I know).

Cool, thanks blade! That's a good sound recorder, plus a really nice set. I know over here we only got like six songs.

This isn't a live radio session, it's a podcast from a website called Eclectic Mix: eclecticmix.com/Look for Show No.249. It can also be downloaded, should you be so inclined. It doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know and there are no interviews or anything. The guy talks a bit a plays tracks from Radio Wars, but it's worth hearing nonetheless. The weird thing is that he reads the band's bio straight off Wikipedia. It's strange hearing someone with an American accent 2500 miles away reading something I wrote (most of it anyway) one Sunday afternoon in my little house in Sheffield!

Found this one, a radio session from Irish station TodayFM, recorded at the time of the Oxegen festival. www.todayfm.com/Shows/Weekdays/Paul-McLoone/Oxegen2009.aspxThere's a download link here, plus a couple of photos at the bottom of the page. The session is seven minutes long - a chat with Juanita and Joel and then an acoustic rendition of Treasure Hunt. Listen to Juanita trying to mimic the presenter's Northern Ireland accent!

This is a link to what must be the first live radio session Howling Bells ever did. That's the good news. Unfortunately the bad news is that the mp3 file no longer exists so we can't listen to it. And it is probably better described as a website session than a radio session. www.podnova.com/channel/272/episode/19/It says Howling Bells stopped by On The Pulse HQ the day after their first show in LA at the Viper Room. They played the LA Viper Room (or Viper Club) on 4th October 2005 (see here: www.megaupload.com/?d=C0MO2TWZ) so the session must have been recorded the next day. It was broadcast on 17th October 2005. Frustratingly, we can't hear it.

This isn't really a session, but I found this link a week ago and was waiting all week for it to be aired. I then waited most of Saturday for it to be put up as streaming audio. This is where it's from: www.musicforlisteners.com/And here is the Howling Bells interview bit from the show. It's chat interspersed with tracks from Radio Wars (and a b-side). Even Ari makes an appearance, but Glenn is absent. It was recorded in San Antonio in June but for some reason it has taken them three months to broadcast it. www.megaupload.com/?d=B8W7SP2CGive yourself plenty of time to listen - it's more than 42 minutes! The same station interviewed Howling Bells when they were supporting The Killers in the US in 2007 but I've looked and the link is no longer there.
