I was just getting my daily dose of Aussie culture this evening when I spotted this i49.photobucket.com/albums/f285/kopii90/waikikihomeandaway.jpgin one scene. Sorry about the picture quality but I videod the TV with my digital camera and then took a screen shot. It's advertising the album "I'm Already Home". I've seen references to Waikiki a couple of times before on Home and Away. Once one character was wearing a Waikiki T-shirt and someone else once had a Waikiki poster up on their bedroom wall. In fact it's probably the very same poster that's in this scene because I bet they recycle a lot of props! I wonder if there's a Juanita fan on the production team or in the scriptwriters?

I knew there were some Home and Away soundtrack albums but I didn't think that Waikiki might be on them so I googled it and found:- www.backtothebay.net/merchandise/soundtracks.shtml"Here Comes September" is on No.3, released in 2002, and "Lucky" is on No.4, released in 2003. These albums actually look half decent - there's some good stuff on them. Butterfly 9 are brilliant and I've heard some of the other artists too.

Home and Away is taking its summer break at the moment so they repeating some old shows from 2002/2003. Sad I know, but I've been watching them.
Anyway, there was one from 2003 on tonight and I listened intently to the background music, almost knowing it would be on. And there it was - the instantly recognisable voice of Juanita, then with Waikiki. The song was Complicated.
And Lee - answering your question from September last year, I know a bit about Australian music after buying a couple of soundtrack albums to The Secret Life of Us in 2002. This is where I first heard Waikiki ("Love Is") and fell in love with Juanita's voice.
