Hello to everybody at Chasing Lullabies, so good to be back. Had only a few opportunities to check into the forum while I was gone. Twice at Pasab and once while in Kandahar city, so I was aware of certain things happening within the band like Juanita having a baby, which is awesome, so congratulations to her! Also Brendan leaving, which is too bad. Hope everything is cool between him and the rest of the band. I'm surprized and somewhat disappointed that more of you did not voice an opinion on the matter here. The feeling I got from the news of Brendan's departure here at the board was that of a nonchalant attitude and "oh well".
I understand that the band is working on a new album, definitely excellent news. Juanita's working on a new solo album, excellent news as well.
Love that the video for Digital Hearts was finally released. I dig the video. It's got that whole primitive figure emerging into self awareness and realizing the world around them. What I take from the end of the video is a being that is able to clone itself. But maybe that's not it at all, maybe it's parallel universes or something like that, I dunno. Pretty cool nonetheless.
I would listen to all the Howling Bells albums along with lots of other music that I love whenever time allowed, so HB never really left me. Some very difficult times occurred for us while we there but for the most part we had our AO on lock. Our CO informed us that two weeks after we left the Taliban overran our outpost that we handed over to the ANA. They waited for us to leave... so that's the story of Afghanistan, and I suspect that it will fall to the enemy. Fifteen months spent over there just pissed away. But I digress, been back about a month now and living in a different area in the states. Just trying to get settled in and adjust to normal life again. From here I'll step back and leave most of the new posting about the band to you all.

Welcome home Mattchew - glad to see you safe and I hope you didn't experience too many dreadful things over there.
As you can probably tell, the board has been rather quiet of late so hopefully your undoubted enthusiasm will rub off on everybody else and spur us all into action again.

That means a lot blade, so thank you.
Hopefully we have not seen the end of Howling Bells and that they will continue to pursue the path of fame and notoriety. They deserve it.
Just too bad that Brendan is gone.

Welcome back Matt! Very glad to hear you're in one piece, and wishing you the best of fortune in reacclimatising, and also in settling into the different area where you're now living.
Your words about Brendan hit something home I think, at the time I think many of our reactions quite directly reflected the little the band had to say about it; I don't think there's even been so much as a tweet saying 'goodbye Brendan' as of now; literally they were just like 'we're rehearsing with a new line up' and next thing they're walking onstage 'introducing our new bassist!'... I do remember Bren coming across very friendly and fun. On the flipside, I believe (touchwood & from the relatively little I've seen so far) the band with their 2012-onwards lineup has a lot of promise.
