Howling Bells EP has just been released on Pledge (?). Saw this now on HB's Facebook page. New tracks and other stuff. I don't know what Pledge do yet, but it looks cool. Had to post this asap, I've been waiting a looooong time for the 3rd album! www.pledgemusic.com/projects/howling-bells

Do you immediately get the EP, or do you have to wait 60 days? It's confusing as hell. Is this just a way to get paid in advance?

From what I understand, we are supporting the band's projects on pledgemusic. If the pledge goal is not met, then the project did not gain enough support from the community, is not released, and you are not charged a penny for it. If the pledge goal is met, you are charged whatever amount you agreed to pay for the project and pledgemusic get a flat 15% commission.
I don't think we are going to get the EP until the pledge goal has been met.

Yeah just read the FAQ, that sounds really good actually www.pledgemusic.com/site/faqThe only bit I don't like is that we don't get any kind of preview of what we're investing in. I doubt HB are going to screw anything up and I'd probably get the EP anyway, but releasing a lead single seems fair...? And bands way bigger seem to be failing. EDIT: Pretty sure we won't get the material until the pledge is finished anyway, in 2 months

I am confused about the exclusives. When I placed my pledge to download the EP, there was an exclusive option to download the EP for an additional 8. Seems redundant because that is the whole reason I am placing the pledge. Maybe they meant a higher quality download or to purchase a physical copy of the EP.

I've just signed up - will it be a CD or download or both?
The title of the EP is 'Invisible'.
Tracklisting: • Invisible • Crossroads (demo) • Arrows (demo) • Midnight Cowboy • Footage filmed during the band’s Las Vegas sojourn

That title definitely deserves one of these

I've just signed up - will it be a CD or download or both? Just checked my email and received this response back from the site: The £8 Download of the EP is the core content. It is the basic Pledge. If you purchase that you get the EP on release and access to all the updates. If you purchase anything else you get the album plus updates included in the price too. The band wanted it included to be clearer what the Project Download actually was. There is no physical copy of the EP. It is exclusive to PledgeMusic and is only available as a download.

Looks like I got ahead of myself...
I thought it was an immediate purchase thingy!

I don´t really like this. I´m willing to pay 8 pounds for a digital Ep even though it sounds expensive. It´s Bells and the new song sounds good to me. What is this then that you don´t get it immediately? I´m not paying anything unless I get something in return and it wasn´t clear from all the blaa blaa when and if the EP is coming.
I´ll get back to you when there is something concrete available to purchase.

You do not pay anything up front (unless you use Paypal) - you are making a pledge that you will pay on the specified date, and according to the smallprint; "You can cancel your pledge at anytime before the project reaches its pledge target."
Whether or not £8 is expensive for four new tracks and a short video is a matter of opinion...

Aah, okay. Yeah, I can promise that I buy it when it comes out. I can do that. It just seemed a bit complicated first.

I like the idea of getting new material, specially after listening Invisible. What I don't like is the fact that we depend on whether or not 200 (?) pledges are reached! I really want the EP

I have never done anything like this but maybe this will turn out to be cool. Like a really long album launch.
Haa, there was a new blog-updatewhen I logged to pledge music. I guess I can share it here:
-------------
Gday! about 3 hours ago So, finally the wheels have started turning!
We’ve spent the last year or so, writing, demo’ing and recording. Travelling to the dustiest of towns to record these new songs, one of which you can now hear on this site, called Invisible. Another few tracks that will also be available on the EP, which you can pre order now.
A few people have been asking us about the Pledge campaign, how exactly it works and so on. Basically, the EP is released on the 9th May to tie in with the gig at Scala. It works as a pre-order system, but unlike when you pre-order something on iTunes or Amazon, here you get access to loads of extra stuff. For example, we’ve put up VIP passes to the gig, a limited edition Tshirt, hand written lyric sheets etc… It’s a way for us to be able to connect with you guys and give a little more than what the usual impersonal exchange of art requires.
In any case, we’re super stoked to start the process and can not wait to start playing the new songs, as well as for you to hear them! Cool, Juanita
