I think I'm more with Riseandfall on this one. I thought "Undertow" and "Elephants" off the first album were good but didn't quite get the rest, and the new album got a naff review in the Independent magazine.

After making that post yesterday, I re listened to The Fool yesterday and really enjoyed it
Still not keen on Love is to die though
I've got so many records I've bought in the last few years and just not given them enough attention - I'm making the effort to listen to stuff I own currently

LOL reminds me of a time when a mate says to me 'Andy, is there anything you don't love?' It's funny though I think my opinion is contradictory to the people's here on this one - as I say I think the first album is pretty cool/different the second is the one that to me has the real 'sparkle'... in fact I'm aware I'm going to have to work a bit if I really want to be 'into' their earlier stuff by the time their February gig comes around. It made the UK top ten as well on the week of it's release - I see myself growing more and more of a liking for what's in the mainstream now, something I'd always turned my nose up to as a kid and eventually had pretty much started to loose all hope in around 2008-10. I checked out The September Girls - they're a great find & one I wasn't yet aware of... How fuzzed out / psuedo-Lo.Fi. is their earlier stuff? Wow.

There was a big review of a recent Warpaint gig in The Independent - a good one too. I think that the success of Haim has made journos realise there are some excellent female rock bands (and individuals) out there who may not previously have got the recognition they deserve.

I caught their Leeds gig on Wednesday! They're absolutely fantastic live. I have a multitude of wonderful things to say which I may add here when I get around to it. But one thing I must mention presently is their first EP; Exquisite Corpse - maybe this is one of Life's greatest kept secrets? Especially ' Billie Holiday' - if ever there were a song you need to hear at least once in your life...

Warpaint came to Leeds again on Thursday of this week. I'm always a little astonished at how much I enjoy their live performances, and I like how the albums feel so reflective of their live sound. In fact when I last saw them touring the self titled second album, I thereafter fell completely in love with that album and I think it's happening again... Suffice to say they were completely fantastic start to finish and I danced a whole lot.
