Heck yeah, Loudest Engine Of All, I can hear it now~ ooooo room room room roooooom!!! , maybe a good blues rock number, turn it up to 10 on your radio dials... Then they gonna take us all the way down to the Crossroads in the middle of nowhere in that big ol bus just to have a good laid back time with no worries and nowhere to go. C'mon...take me to the Crossroads.

There was a bit harsh criticism against the songs of the new album. Nightingale was well received but then only Radio Wars Theme gets an unfavourable mention. Mostly the reviewer raves about the debut songs. I have never seen one of their gigs but I´m wondering if it really is that bad with the Radio Wars songs in live situation or was the reviewer just in love with the debut album?

It was noticeable, though, that they played a lot more from the first album than the second.
Anyway, it sounds as though another new song (name unknown) was inspired by a bird in the Australian bush. This from TripleJ:
Juanita let slip that one bird in particular might get a song-writing credit on the new album. "There was this one particular bird and it had this really quirky call, and we would sing it all day long jsut the four of us like, in between takes we'd like 'do do de do' and then we started playing it and turning it into a song."

I think I'm glad that I didn't here the debut songs before I saw them live, because maybe then I wouldn't have liked the RW songs. But most of the songs that they played were from RW and that got my attention, so what's that say? Saturday night will be six months since I first saw them, so I'm almost at a half a year! They need to write a new song about one of them kangaroos too. ;D

Wow - it's going really fast now after all - I'm so excited for the new songs!
Loudest Engine Of All - what a song title and it has a guitar solo in it - how great is that? I'm glad that they wanna have a heavier sound- Radio Wars was too much pop for my taste.
And such a good review of the concert - the writer really took his time and there are also some great pics of that gig. I would loved to be at that concert.
Does someone of you know a song called Crossroads? It was also on the setlist.

Yes, we spotted that Crossroads on the setlist, and I wouldn't think it'd be a cover of the old 1968 (or whenever) Cream song. Juanita talks about new songs in one of the interviews mattchew has posted in another thread.

I just remembered that they recorded a song after they got home from the Coldplay tour called, I am the wolf and his world. So that's three new songs we know the name of.

Here's an interview from a magazine in Canberra in which Juanita talks about the third album. She says, "We’re taking our experiences into consideration and definitely drawing a middle point between the two records, which is somewhere in between earth and the galaxy, if that makes sense."www.bmamag.com/article/features/20091210-howling-bells/

I´m wondering if it really is that bad with the Radio Wars songs in live situation or was the reviewer just in love with the debut album? Radio Wars live is epic! waaaay better then the album versions. saw them last friday night in sydney. from radio wars, they only played nightingale, treasure hunt and cities burning down. and other radio wars songs at a few support slots and festivals. but your mind will explode when you hear the two newest songs. They are epic. I just hope they come out better in the studio then the Radio Wars stuff did! and i met joel, glenn and breden! Everyone minus juanita :-( I would die for a photo with her!

It just feels as if the band themselves don´t exactly feel confident about the new album either if they play only 3 songs from it in their live sets. It´s not like the RW songs are ambiental progsuites not meant for live situations. They even had to remove Digital Hearts from the set like there was in the photo. What is wrong with that song? I feel that is one of the best in RW.

chrome3d mentioned they didn't appear confident about playing tracks from Radio Wars. I thought that too, but didn't want to say it.
And I bet mattcambie is disappointed Juanita wasn't there when he met the band. The thing I remember most about talking to her is how small she is. I'm only 5'5" and she's way smaller than me. The other thing I remember is those knee-length leather boots she was wearing.....
