The Howling Bells Wikipedia page has been a bit lame for a while now, though somebody has recently added a mention of the US tour supporting Coldplay. It needs a bit of an overhaul, and, with confidence gained from updating the Waikiki wiki page, I've already started doing it. See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howling_BellsThe previous discogaphy was pretty useless so I've lifted the one from xanthein's website www.xanthein.co.uk. I hope he doesn't mind, and I've added an external link to his website at the bottom of the page, under the title Howling Bells fan site.Does anybody have any suggestions about what other information might be useful? I want to add photos and CD sleeves, but I'm not sure how to do it. I'll investigate.

Well, there's been no feedback in the past 24 hours so I've gone and done it. Let me know if you think it's great or shite. See here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howling_BellsBy the way, photos are a bit problematic. Wikipedia demands that you verify copyright, licence or permission to use, which is rarely possible.

I sent a Myspace message to the band telling them I'd done an overhaul of the Howling Bells Wikikpedia page and asking if there was anything they didn't like or wanted changing.
Good sort that she is, Juanita replied within a day. Here's what she said:
"Thank you for putting so much time into it. All the factual stuff is spot on, it's difficult to know where to draw the line with presenting an unbiased account of the band's history, i.e..reviews etc...however, I guess the beauty of art is that it presents an array of brilliant colours. Thank you again, you've done a great job of it! Juanita"
That's made my day!

Once I get my gnashers into something I can't give it up, especially after Juanita gave the big OK.
I have now added:
Videos TV Appearances Live Radio Sessions

Look here: www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/297d747a-c027-495a-ac6b-711edffde045The BBC have half-inched everything I wrote, word for word! And they must have done it in the past two days because there's something there I only added on Sunday. The cheeky buggers. Do your own research! Although they do say at the bottom of the page it's from Wikipedia so I'll let them off.

Some bloke called Michig has been twiddling with the Howling Bells Wikipedia page. Don't know who he is. He has changed the page layout a bit (OK) and put quotation marks everywhere (OK), but he also deleted the links to Chasing Lullabies and xanthein's website (not OK).
I have put the links back. If he deletes them again I will put them back again. I am more persistent than him so no matter how many times he deletes them, I will put them back.
He also changed the release date of Radio Wars to 2008 (wrong!). I have changed it back.
[Edit] He has also made a link to a Wikipedia page for Radio Wars, which includes links to various reviews. This is a good edit.

Yeah, I'll go back into Wikipedia and put the word "OFFICIAL" there in big letters.

Somebody else has removed the links to Chasing Lullabies and xanthein's website but this time they have given a reason in the 'history' of the page. This is it:
Not Allowed by Wikipedia Links to blogs, personal web pages and most fansites, except those written by a recognized authority. (This exception is meant to be very limited; as a minimum standard, recognized authorities always meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for biographies).
So if these are the rules I suppose we have to abide by them. But there must be a way round it. Any suggestions for how we could describe Chasing Lullabies apart from forum or message board or blog, to circumvent this rule?

Somebody should attempt to contact the band with the purpose of attaining a statement on a time frame of when their new website will be up and running. And if this board can be recognized as the official message board. Problem solved.

We could call it a 'communal online data despatch hub' Sounds a bit Nathan Barley though, even though it'd be well Mexico.

I think you have done a great job, Blade. The wiki page looks really extensive and well done.
I don´t personally get it that some dimwit should remove the links to fansites as that info is usually the most important thing in wikipages. That is the next step any fan will take. When I have been looking at every other band wiki-pages, there is numerous fansites listed in the end and nobody has ever removed them. Is there somebody out there who has a personal vendetta going on against the Bells?
I would add them again and keep doing it as long as they stay there.

I had never done any fiddling with wikipedia before but now I have. If it´s removed then I add it again.
-------
Edit. it was removed by a robot. This is funny. This site is rejected by wikipedia but in all other band wiki pages there is 10 fan sites. Go figure. Life is not fair.
