I hope it's right! They're not mentioned on the V Festival website but the Howling Bells Myspace page and efestivals.com both list the two dates.

Howling Bells are playing the Virgin Media Union stage at the V Festival.
Rest of the stage line-up : British Sea Power Exit Calm Gary Go Goldie Lookin Chain Iain Archer Jenny Lewis Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong Kid British Lights Mystery Jets One Eskimo Pete Murray Peter Doherty Phoenix Ray Gun Seth Lakeman The Gay Blades The Sunshine Underground The Twang Vagabond VV Brown Wallis Bird
How about a little competition. Organise them in the order they will be playing.
I've always thought The Jing Jang Jong should merge with the Tygers of Pang Tang, to give us The Tygers of Jing Jang Jong Pang Tang. And if the Wu Tang Clan joined up too......
I saw the Tygers of Pang Tang once. They were rubbish.

The V Festival website now confirms that Howling Bells are playing the Virgin Media Union stage, Hylands Park (Chelmsford) Saturday, Weston Park (Staffordshire) Sunday.
They're third in line behind Pete Doherty and The Sunshine Underground.

V Festival highlights on Channel 4 tonight, 23.35-01.15.
But don't hold your breath for any Howling Bells coverage. It'll all be Lily Allen and Dizzee Rascal.

I don't think there will be any HB coverage, because we couldn't see a camera in that tent at all - unless it was well hidden. Saw their set yesterday and like what they've done with their sound very much! They've enhanced quite a few of the songs musically since I last saw them - I guess to suit stadiums and the like! Unfortunately they had stiff competition on the other stages at that time, so the tent really wasn't that full. Was funny at the end, because the organisers tried to shut them off before their last number and they started leaving the stage, with the audience booing the organisers. Then they came back and said 'F**k it' we're playing it anyway - and did so! ;D btw. James Corden is obviously a BIG fan (pardon the pun) as he was going absolutey bonkers for them down the front - the other side of the barrier.

Glad you enjoyed it, especially after your disappointments with the cancellations. And of course Channel 4 showed only the 'big names'.
Not being a TV comedy buff, I had to look up James Corden to find out who he is. Still, it's great to see well-known (except by me) people supporting the band. Maybe he'll give them a mention on TV.
Can you remember the set list?

Here's a vid of Blessed Night from V Chelmsford. Good picture and sound quality. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC1uq5vOL7UAnd here's a good review from Stafford on Sunday: From: www.themusicfix.co.uk/content/gig-review/6630/v-festival-2009.htmlText: "I did a ska past an Amy Winehouse-free set from The Specials towards the disgustingly good-looking Howling Bells. During a short set, they thankfully played the highlights from their superior debut album but sprinkled black magic on the new tracks, set closer Radio Wars transformed into a behemoth that saw ever-charismatic frontwoman Juanita Stein banging a drum with poise - that's hard to do, surely? Extra points for a sweet false start, where Juanita had to pause after a waft of Ghost Town from over the way made her go all wide-eyed and trembly."

Here is Treasure Hunt with Juanita dancing a lot: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPFz3tMTnLkI use to wear my hair since 2 years exactly like her in the video - that was also funny when I first saw her at the concert.
