I have heard from a highly believable source that there is a track missing from the leaked album. Not only that, Ms Bells Song and Radio Wars Theme are two separate songs, not joined together.
Here's what my informant says (you may be able to guess who it is):
"The band are aware of the album leak. Unfortunately, as we all know, this is just a simple reality of the times we live in! We're happy that people get to hear our music and from the looks of things seem to be connecting with it! It's just frustrating as we weren't really ready for this, Radio Wars Theme is a separate track.....not joined to Ms Bells Song, and there is a track missing from the leaked version (one of my absolute favourites actually!) So, hopefully folk will still be wanting to purchase the record in its full form when it is released! It means a great deal to us that everyone involved with the bulletin board is waiting for the official release."
Even more reason to buy it when it's officially released!!

That is indeed interesting ! To be honest, I don't think anybody will need extra incentive to buy the album - those that were always going to ( ie us lot at the very least!) will still be champing at the bit for a copy of our own and from reading comments on the InterWWWebs it seems there may be a few folks getting turned onto the band for the first time that'll be grabbing one. The only shame is that finding the first album can be tough for some folks now so additional bonus sales that could have come for that may be lost. The other thing is that this malformed version of the album is how the LABEL is touting it - you'd think they'd know how it should be. It really doesn't inspire confidence in them if they've got this wrong ! It also makes it blindingly obvious that this is exactly where the leak came from !

If anyone on the board who's downloaded the leak doesn't buy the album when it's released, I swear to God I'll ban them! ;D Banning is too good for them! Keep them on here and we'll subject them to a constant barrage of shame and barbed comments ;D

That's all good news. I was worried about the band maybe being annoyed about the leak. I can definitely 100% absolutely and without any doubt reassure here again that I'll buy the new album and all the singles and everything else in March 09 and later on (oh how I wish I had a real "timetunnel"... ;D )
Maybe that's a new concept for bands in the future: don't be worried about leaks but just make sure that the real release contains more songs than the leak (like in the old days when they put "bonus tracks" on the CD in order to buy that one instead of the LP).
Matt, how come you got the message by the HB "insider"? :-) I guess you contacted them in order to inform them about the leak...?

I sent Juanita a Myspace message thingy the other night asking if the band knew about the leak and assuring her that this board would not permit the posting of any links to the illegal sources, and she replied a few days later.
How many other bands would talk their fans direct like this? Juanita truly is a wonderful person and I want to take her home to meet my mother.
Regarding the first album, I went in a couple of major High Street record stores last Saturday and neither of them even had a Howling Bells slot in the CD rack, never mind have copies of the CD.

According to the foto of the promo CD posted above the release date is April, 7th?!?!?!?! Oh no! But that might be wrong as well... Anyway, the record label doesn't seem do its work responsible-minded...

If Bella Union had the rights and it seems they've decided to just cut them off from source then does that mean no more copies coming into circulation? Crackers, really, and I don't mean Christmas.

I've bought 3 copies of the debut album and I like the new one more - who knows how many I'll buy this time EDIT: I bet the track order is wrong, too. It feels weird right now, apart from How Long as final track. EDIT2: You should've invited her to the forum btw

Radio Wars Theme could be a great opener. But also a great closer. I love the tension it creates.

I did think about asking Juanita if she wanted to sign up but if I were in her position I don't think I would. At least the band have become aware of the board in the last month or so and, who knows, they might view it now and then (I would, just to read all the nice things people are saying!). There always seems to be a couple of 'guests' viewing, but they could easily be members who haven't logged on.
Lee - can you see IP addresses of people viewing? If so, can you tell a person's location from their IP address? Any Australian IP addresses (for the next few weeks anyway) might give us a clue!

Lee already offered the band to sign up when he contacted Juanita to inform her about the board's existence: howlingbells.proboards105.com/index.cgi?board=mbideassuggestions&action=display&thread=164&page=1#1001I think we should respect if they don't want to sign up or stay anonymous guests. Therefore we shouldn't try to track down IPs (if that's possible at all) to a certain location in order to being able to say " maybe one of the HB looked at the board today". We could just ask them if they read here, and if they don't want to tell we should respect that.

We could just ask them if they read here, and if they don't want to tell we should respect that. I've seen this on other boards - as soon as a band member makes it clear that they do log in and visit all you get is a stream of random questions posted everywhere followed by moaning that they don't get answered and that the person/band doesn't care. It's a wholly unfair corner to back somebody into so I'd say it's much nicer to have an air of mystery about them popping by. Just seems more polite in a way.... edit: oops beaten to it ! More importantly, I wonder what style the 'missing track' is and where it fits in the running order ? I must admit to being pretty intrigued !

There's already loads of upbeat/almost danceable tracks on it so I'm guessing it's gonna be a slower one. Which I don't mind at all, if it's anything like Golden Web.
