You need to look at the thread "Track missing from leaked version" here: howlingbells.proboards105.com/index.cgi?board=howlingbellsgeneral&action=display&thread=192From what we know now, everything falls into place. Has your promo version got "To L.A." on it? (No it hasn't - I've just re-read what you wrote). This is 'The Missing Track' and you've got one of the copies where the leak came from. Also, Juanita said that Ms Bells Song/Radio Wars are two separate songs entirely and should not be conjoined.

Thanks - I had read that particular thread its just when I won it last night itreminded me obviously that early copies that surfaced were joined. Its just odd they were conjoined in the first place

Omg the promo I won just arrived! Listening now:
Think Treasure Hunt is a grower for me - starts off great, then gets a bit meh, definitely need to re listen
Loving Cities Burning Down more now that I did previously.
Nightingale is great - love it!
Let's be Kids - again I think a grower for me but still very good.
I'm on Ms. Bell's Song at the mo which seems to be my favourite so far... pleasant to the ears.

Golden Web is cool, reminds me most of the debut if any songs do.
Into the Chaos - well I love it immensely, had the promo for a while now.
Digital Hearts is good - didn't realise lyrically it carries on the Radio Wars theme.
How Long - Love it! Simple as.
Initial impression is the album is more straightforward at least lyrically its simpler than the first record. Not that that is in anyway a bad thing, its different. It sounds like it wasn't recorded in a darkened corner.
Definitel a few suprises like Treasure Hunt and Let's Be Kids, the latter being probably being the poppiest thing I've ever heard from them.
Overall I'm very impressed and glad I've finally heard it. Its good but I will admit it doesn't have the thrilling bite of the first record.

I salute you for continuing to resist the temptation to download!
Your appraisal is pretty much in line with everyone else's, but there are two tracks that seem to polarise opinion somewhat - Let's Be Kids and How Long. I think they're the 'least good' tracks on the album, others think they're the best.
And don't forget you have another track to look forward to when the proper CD arrives......

Yes definitely I'm looking forward to it! I'm listening it to again actually. I absolutely love Cities Burning Down now - I couldn't get into it when I heard itas a b-side. Listening to It Aint You reminds me of a Smashing Pumkins song - Try I think its called ("Try to Hold On, maybe its Try Try Try).

I'm loving the album now, after being a bit dissapointed on first listen....(I gave in and downloaded a month ago, but have also bought the deluxe edition!)
Personally my favourites are Nightinggales, Digital Hearts, It Ain't You and How Long.
For some reason, I can't stand 'Let's Be Kids'...the lyric...it's just too cheesy I think.

I'm the same with Let's Be Kids - think its awful, the lyrics make me cringe. I love the album but I can't connect with it.

"To L.A." may well be the best track on the album or, at the very least, amongst the best. I'd describe it but some may want the surprise! If you can't wait and want a sample then try 7digital.com It's a cracker!

I've just been comparing the b-side and album versions of Cities Burning Down, and concluded that I prefer the b-side version as the main guitar riff sounds more raw and, well, more guitar driven...it's been layered with some keyboard in the new version and doesn't sound quite as driving to me, still brilliant though.
There was another version wasn't there? Done about last summer, for release with an EP that I don't think ever happened. This version was similiar to the album version I think, but had some prominent brass stabs in with the chorus. I think it was on their myspace player for a while, but ain't there now. Did anyone record it? And do you have an mp3 you could send over to me please??? Wish I'd recorded it now!
