I was a bit ashamed to write on this forum as I don´t have an actual copy of the debut album of the Bells. My only excuse is that I have seen a copy only in library and never available in a shop (in Helsinki, Finland). So I placed an order last week to Bella Union to get the digipak-version. Apparently it has been sold out and there is not even a jewelcase-version available. I will get the two remaining singles quite cheaply. Bella Union will not get new ones. Are they stupid or where is the problem? The album seems to be a steady seller and should be quite popular now. When Into The Chaos is going to be a big hit, then their debut should also sell more. I didn´t want to cancel my order so I had to settle for a copy of Beach House: Devotion. Just to warn you others who are thinking about ordering soon.
Debut is also out of stock in Amazon and the price is bigger than usual CD if and when a copy is located.
So, should I wait for a rerelease? I think one should be made available reeeaaally soon. Yeah, and make the rerelease in digipak too while you are at it. This situation is really ridiculous. I would much rather support the band and not buy an overpriced item from Amazon if it even was there.

It´s totally sold out from Bella Union and there is no chance that they will get more. Now the debut-album is on their site only to lure new customers. Thanks for the link, I seek it out, but like I said, overpriced second hand collector items from Australia are not going to make the band a single dime. There is a huge demand for rerelease.
-----------------------
Order done to Red Eye, let´s see if something was gaught or if it was just another empty lead. Heh, if it´s some obscure Aussie artist it can always be found at Red Eye. If not, then the artist probably doesn´t even exist!

That site also said: HOWLING BELLS - CITIES BURNING DOWN - 7" Single release date : 02.02.2009 Preorder now!

I'm quite surprised at that - it's one of those albums I thought would be a steady mover (if not a massive sell) so be kept on for a good while yet. Also, I thought it would be one of those albums that you'd get cheapo used copies of at Amazon - shockingly they only have 4 copies priced at £14.85, £58.14, £61.14 and £79 ! It's not on Play at all (even the PlayTrade side of it) and not on HMV either.
I see what you mean, chrome3d - seems to have been dropped completely and copies really have run out !

Does anybody know how many it ever sold, and where it got to in the (official) charts (if anywhere)?

As expected "some of the items are out of stock". Order has gone to limbo and maybe something comes out of it, maybe not. In the worst case scenario a copy is flown from UK to Sydney and then back to Europe. Yeah, we´ll get back to you.
I wish I had been more active earlier to seek out the album but what is there to do? When the obsession hits then it just hits. I couldn´t predict that I never see the album in any store (and I have been looking) and then it´s impossible to find it from the net.
Then it´s just waiting for rerelease. I wish they would spice the 2nd edition with some b-sides, maybe live tracks and lyrics leaflet.

That's weird that nobody has it for sale anywhere in the world. I've tried CDBaby (not listed) and CDUniverse (import to USA only) but if they're importing it from the UK who are they getting it from?
Somebody's selling it on Ebay, latest price 13.28 US$.

I emailed Johnny who is listed as the contact for distribution at Bellaunion, and he replied:
Maybe demand has been so strong they ran out for a while, or perhaps a temporary glitch with the shopping cart..

The following items are ready to be dispatched:
____________________________________________ HB_lights_small Howling Bells Howling Bells CD Singles package deal! Qty: 1
However, the following items are currently out of stock and we won\'t be getting anymore back in unfortuantely.
____________________________________________ bellacd114 Howling Bells Howling Bells Qty: 1 ____________________________________________
I would be happy to send out the 2 singles and refund you £8.99 for the out of stock album, however, if there is anything else in our shop that you might like instead (up to a value of £8.99) then please let me know and I can send that instead (and refund any difference if necessary).
Alternatively, you could of course cancel your entire order, it is entirely up to you.
That sounds like a temporary glitch with the shopping cart all right! Beach House: Devotion is a fine album that soothes my mind though. Check it out as it´s the best replacement from Bella as THEY WON`T BE GETTING MORE COPIES.

Hello and thanks for your order. Some items may be out of print but we will try to get them either from this supplier at the quoted price or from an alternative source upon request. Drop me a line in a few weeks if you haven't heard from us and we'll chase the order up. You won't be charged anything unless we receive the items and ship them to you. If you are shipped them seperately you will only be charged the one original postage cost.
That sounds like a temporary glitch too UNTIL THERE IS A RERELEASE!

There are 2 used copies advertised on amazon.co.uk for £10.53 ( from Australia) and £13.61 (from USA), both plus postage. Here: www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_m_h_?url=search-alias%3Dpopular&field-keywords=howling+bellsWhat's going on with Howling Bells CDs in general? Are they that rare and sought after? On amazon.co.uk Blessed Night is on sale for £43.32, Wishing Stone for £49.99, Setting Sun £23.53. Only Low Happening is cheap, at £2.99. Fifty quid for a single??!! We're all sitting on goldmines! Pity the band won't get any of it if somebody buys them.

Those prices for singles are quite ridiculous. I just paid £3 for Setting Sun & Wishing Stone. Order more of them while they last if you can sell those for 40£!
Naah, I´m not really interested in used items. I just want to make some noise, so that the band knows how it is. This album will sell thousands more if the new album makes it as big as it seems. Then second edition should be in the cards very soon.

Okay, it seems the debut album has been dispatched from Red Eye, so I can stop some whining. Price is $15. It could be even australian dollars, can´t remember. If it is then the price is nicely less than 10 euros. It seems that I should buy a lot of Bells CD´s now and then sell them for good money when the new album comes out!
