Howling Bells - Blessed Night @ Newcastle Academy2 15-08-2006 It may not exactly be hi-def but it was recorded on my mobile so be glad it worked at all Apologies for it being a little light on the Joel front but I got there about 7 seconds too late to get the middle and hence had the amp stack to contend with - He does appear more towards the end ! Two points to note - Juanita still looking softer & cosier AND Glenn still had The Hat. I'll post my ticket in the relevant thread later !

You may remember that on that August 2006 tour someone stole Glenn's hat (I think it was those dastardly Bristol people, but forgive me if I'm wrong and it was at Brighton or somewhere) and there was a plea on the original website for the culprit to return it.
I went to see them at The Plug in Sheffield on 9th August 2006 and, a couple of hours before the gig, I saw their old tour bus in the car park and reckoned the gang might be in there relaxing. So I went and knocked on the door of the bus. I was hoping Juanita would answer it but, no, Brendan opened the door to see what I wanted. He had a look on his face that said, "Who's this disturbing our pre-gig peace?"
I quickly had to think of something to say (I hadn't prepared this approach properly), so I asked, "Did Glenn get his hat back?"
"No," replied Brendan, so I made some comment I can't remember and then asked what time they'd be on stage. "Around 9.30 I think," said Brendan. It was actually nearer 10.30. They must have spent that hour looking for Glenn's hat!
It was the first time they'd played Sheffield and Juanita commented on it a couple of times, saying something like, "It's like a first date" and then, unusually, Brendan had a few words to say (he must have been inspired by my appearance at the door of the bus). He said that when he was a kid he had a guitar amp with a metal pedal that said on it, "Made in Sheffield, England" (Sheffield used to be the steel-making centre of Britain) and ever since then he had wanted to visit Sheffield, England, and now he was here. Cue a big cheer from the crowd!

So....what has happened to Glenn's hat recently? Has he just stopped wearing it? Is it because the band are trying to look more like Waikiki?

Oops, I forgot Xanthein was from Bristol. You're not the thief are you!!!??
There does appear to have been a change of image (Juanita and Glenn anyway), with Juanita's different hair and clothes, and Glenn's cropped, hatless head. Maybe they just fancied a change, or it's a deliberate thing to make themselves more 'accessible' to the general music-buying population.
