in the cinema would have to be Wanted - really enjoyed it even if the plot was a bit Matrix-y.

Probably the Korean "I'm A Cyborg But That's Ok"
Imagine the cute quirkiness of Amélie crossed with One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.
Cracking film and I'll certainly give this another watch in the future.

The Flaming Lips: Christmas On Mars has been in my player for some time. I can´t watch it all at once.

Sweeny Todd again with the other half - very enjoyable film - dark but silly and gloriously gorey.

The original version of The Day The Earth Stood Still.
I haven't seen the remake so far, but having see the original now and having read lots of bad reviews about the remake I'm pretty sure I'll never watch the remake.
As a little Sci-Fi geek I was also quite astonished that I'd never ever seen The Day The Earth Stood Still before. It's a really good movie. Due to the remake there was a lot of very detailed and intersting background information about the original in a very good German movie magazine recently - especially how the cast and the making of it had to deal with these McCarthy dorks.

The original version of The Day The Earth Stood Still. Isn't it great! I recently revisited that, Forbidden Planet & Metropolis - all were really rather good and well worth buying again.

Yes, Metropolis is another great one. Saw it last year for the first time - and was really suprised how many movies have references to Metropolis' style and vision.
Forbidden Planet is another one I still haven't seen... good idea actually, have to check out my local DVD rental.

Batman: The Dark Knight on DVD - film of 2008 for me I think - just an astonishing piece of work - it justified the hype, the performances were great, the action was great but didn't overlook the story, superbly written - dialogue often witty and also profound in parts which not being too preachy/politky.
Wall E - never caught it in cinemas but another triumph for Pixar - probably their darkest film to date, more of an eco thriller more than anything else but still has those beautiful aand charming characters.

I've been watching a film almost every day lately... the past 3 days: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang - hilarious "film noir"-esque film with Robert Downey Jr. - can't believe this one isn't more popular 9/10 Lost In Translation - worth watching for the beautiful shots alone, especially if you love Japan (like me) 8/10 Mr Brooks - good film about a serial killer, got it recommended cause I'm a Dexter addict 7/10 EDIT: hey, I was about to watch "I'm A Cyborg But That's Ok" soon, too; heard lots of great stuff about it

Kill Bill Vol.1 - Saw it in the cinema and own it on DVD but the other half rented it on Blu Ray. Still a great film - completely OTT but great soundtrack and performances - the House At Blue Leaves is still an incredible set piece

Just signed up to LoveFilm so had a good selection in past month or so. I recommend all of the following:
Bad Education - I adore Almodovar, another fantastic film from him.
Cloverfield - wasn't sure what to expect but I thought it was a great spin on the monster/blockbuster flick.
Zodiac - astonishing - watch it, watch it, watch it! Robert Downey Jr, Anthony Edwards, Jake Gyllinghall, Mark Ruffalo - all amazing. Stunning direction. Highly recommended!
The Reader - another good film with a great central performance from Kate Winslet.
Half Nelson - heard this was good, not for everyone as its slow paced and nothing much happens but Ryan Gosling was amazing.
The Last King of Scotland - great film and great cast. Definitely deserved the accolades. Forest Whittaker (dunno if I've spelt that coreectly) and James McAvoy were particularly good.
