Their facebook account says they finished recording today. Hopefully that means we'll hear something soon!
11 days in the studio in total. That seem pretty quick!
The album was recorded with Catherine J Marks and Alan Moulder. Alan Moulder has worked with loads of great bands, including My Bloody Valentine.

I believe ALL the music HBs recorded before album 4 was just a warm up!

I'm very glad to hear album 4 now has a material presence, and if it's laid down as quickly as a White Stripes album that means it'll be at least as good as one. Also I'm sure the fact that they're not just another band lost in intravercy on a write/record/tour/write/record/repeat cycle means they can come up with something beyond the fray..

I wonder if we'll get a taster of the album's style like with the Invisible EP before the last album.
To be completely honest, the couple of new songs they played in Oxford in February, weren't for me and worried me a bit. They were very Waikiki like, especially the one that was called 'Beauty Queen' (I think). They seemed to lack the depth and quality of the band's best (early) work. I'd LOVE to be proved wrong and they may not even be songs that have made it on to the new album.

I hope that it will be a great album and a hit and wish Howling Bells all the luck in making the big time. Unfortunately, I will be going back to Kandahar for the next six to nine months starting December 9, so I may miss the release of the album but I guess we shall see.

Thanks blade, will do. From what I know so far it will be a very different mission than what we had last time. There should be no dismounted patrols from a strong point looking for the enemy, but instead we will be operating out of Kandahar Airfield going out and pulling mounted security for contractors building schools n stuff like that. At KAF tho they have internet (slow as shiz!) and pool tables and plenty of ping pong to be had so it actually may be quite entertaining and I will probably be able to check in here every now n again

Take care mattchew; I hope things go well and that you can take plenty of pride in doing service both to help people truly in need in the world, and to help the rest of sleep more soundly..

I second that notion... Still we have a good wait ahead yet I guess; we don't even have a press release or title as of yet.. Not saying it's a bad thing (although perhaps from a commercial point of view...) but it's never too easy to figure out what to expect from them next... One thing I do know is the production is going to be fantastic, check this out: www.catherinejmarks.com/#/about/4561788539and this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Moulder The bands these two have worked with!! Note the Foals album - that was one of this years biggest sellers as well as one which really captured my imagination this year - the production is stunning on that and I can't imagine it having done anywhere near as well without. I've alway's maintained Howling Bells are a band who have all great creative and songwriting ability as well as superb musicianship, so they really do deserve, and will benefit greatly, from some high end production & engineering, so this is the excellent and exciting news! I do believe we can expect a tonne more press, promotion and ensuing commercial success at long last this time!! ;D
