Howl All!
Medollic
If you haven't already heard of this Brisbane three-piece, please do check them out. They seem to be getting plenty of attention in Australia. I bought their album Dollhouse last night and have given it at least 4 full plays so far, and I'm enjoying it loads. I think what's striking me the most about their music is that it's some of the most listenable I've heard - Maybe one tends to think that if one can just pick up an album and be so instantly into it without any patience being required, then it must be fairly generic music playing on fairlly familiar ground, but the thing with Medollic is that you instead find yourself immersed in the deep end with complex and emotional music, crafted by talented and inspired minds, and with production beyond plush. In fact they have such a crisply produced sound that at first I really wasn't expecting to find half as much character and individuality in their music. Especially beautiful are Lix's vocals and harmonies. To sum up I'm finding it catchy, varied and very very likeable, and I think they're truly deserving of the praise and attention that's going their way.
Theres four samples of songs on their homepage, otherwise here's some youtube linx:
Black Begins
Dollhouse
Fable
Pieces
Medollic's biography makes for an inspirational read, and if you look at the photos, I'm thinking Lix reminds me of La Bella Juanita a little?
Anyways, probably what's captured my imagination the most with these guys is how I came across them - well actually it was them who found me! I set myself up a tw@tter account a bit ago, and recently this 'Medollic' started following me out of the blue! So I checked them out, decided they sounded alright, and started following them back on said tw@tter. They then messaged me! Turns out they'll actually seek out new people based on their musical taste! I'm thinking hey if a band can be frucked to reach out to people who potentially could enjoy their music then they probly deserve more of my attention than other bands who don't.
Anyways u can get signed copies of their album off their website. It's cost me under £14.00 to get one bought & shipped to the UK from Oz and also u get to download the album in mp3 inclusive.
Rather cool methinks.
Keep on Howlin'
