It has been rather quiet in Howling Bells world lately, so here's something to shake you out of your lethargy.
And, what's more, it maintains the Australian theme.
These two artists are intended to be played LOUD. The best place to listen is in your car, on your own, so you don't have to bother talking to anyone and can sing along to your heart's content, watching other drivers wondering why you're so worked up. And if you're going to play this at home, make sure the neighbours are out.
The first group is Magic Dirt, from Geelong, Victoria. They have been around a while - you can read all about them here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_Dirt
They have recorded a wide range of music over the years, some of it quite weird and experimental, but always with a background of rock. Singer Adalita Srsen (no, that's not a spelling mistake), has a voice that fluctuates from caring to vicious, depending on the type of song.
I have two of their albums, Snow White and What Are Rockstars Doing Today. These two tracks are from Snow White, released in 2005. This is one of my most-played albums in the past two or three years. It gets the old adrenaline going and, at my age, you need that assistance sometimes!
Here are the tunes:
Magic Dirt - Feels Like a Demon

The second artist is another Aussie rock chick, Jode Bonney, from Gladstone, Victoria. This is her Myspace page: www.myspace.com/jodebonney
Jode has also been around a while, but she has made only one album, Dream Of Angels, released in 2007. Before that she earned her living writing music for other artists and for television programmes and ads, but there was always a rock star aching to get out, so she decided to give it a go. Whether she'll ever make a second album I don't know, but she's worth a listen. Her voice carries that gruff, sexy sound.
