Hi guys,
i'm also new here, 23 and from Germany. I did not have a clue about the existance of the Bells until I went to the Coldplay concert in Düsseldorf last month. I'm a huge fan of Coldplay (a dangerous statement in this board - I know ;D) and I was not so keen about the supporting acts because I don't like the Kilians and I have never heard anything about the Howling Bells. Unfortunately I went away to get a drink while the Kilians were off the stage and there was a long queue in front of me while the Howling Bells started to play. I really liked the sound I could hear through the doors but I did not showed more attention to it because someone called me on my mobile. Later I went back to my seat and I immediately fell in love with the music and admired Juanitas great voice and her style. She was also talking very nice to the crowd although a lot of people were not really interested in them. Then there was the Radio Wars Theme and she began to play with the drumsticks, that was very impressive - never heard anything like that before. I was a bit sad when they left the stage. Of course Coldplay was the main event on this evening for me but the next day I searched for videos of the Bells in YouTube and I noticed that they have a lot of great songs. I'm listening consistently to their debut album and will soon buy the second one and I'm here to get more informations about them - for example I just found out that Juanita is already 32...she has such a young presence, expected her to be 25 or 26. However I'm very happy to have found a new band that I really like.

Welcome aboard! We have quite a contingent from Germany (well, about three).
You'll find all sorts if interesting stuff here and if you have any questions someone here will know the answer.
But make sure you don't mention Coldplay too much! (only joking)

The bells are interesting enough - I just discovered yesterday that even the former Waikiki have some videos on youtube.

Hello everyone. I'm a 42-year old rock fanatic from the San Francisco Bay Area who first saw the Bells playing "Setting Sun" on an obscure high-definition TV show called "London Live" in the Spring of 2007. I was immediately blown away, though it took me about six months to focus to find out who they were and buy the imported debut album, which of course took matters to a whole other level, as it's such an amazing, evocative, emotional masterpiece. Most of the bands that have affected me this much were from the late-80's and mid-90's -- PJ Harvey & the Sugarcubes/Bjork are common touchstones; I offer L.A.'s Mary's Danish and the Dutch group Bettie Serveert as other bands that the Bells remind me of, and Joel must have heard some Jim Moginie of Midnight Oil at some point. It had been a long time since I had fallen so hard for a new band, and I was energized. But I was too late for their first wave of live shows, and too far away to travel to any of the Coldplay shows at which they opened, and it's seeing a band live in person that makes them real to me.
Which, hopefully, is happening very soon -- I will post later tonight about what I've found on the internet about possible U.S. shows.

Welcome leftjab! It's hard trying to confirm these US dates - they aren't usually this secretive about where they're playing!

Hello Cynthia - now we have every continent except Africa covered! Oh, and Antarctica. Wonder if any penguins are Howling Bells fans?

Hi cyn, welcome and greetings from the northern to the southern hemisphere....these are one of the few positive effects of the internet - you can get into contact with people from all around the world.
I also love Setting sun, it is a very beautiful song and probably one of their best.

So we've all been reading the board and thought it was time to say hello! I'll keep it brief and say thank you for all the support, we really appreciate it guys. Anyway, we noticed that some people had reservations about Pledging before hearing, so we've amended that and you can now hear 'Invisible' here; www.pledgemusic.com/projects/howling-bellsTo satisfy those with little faith, I'm going to post an "hello to Chasing Lullabies" on our Facebook. Cheers, Brendan

Great! Thanks so much Lee, but you and Blade are doing a great job of it, we should leave it in your capable hands.

Hi everyone ,i almost never discovered this wonderful band.A pal of mine gave me a disc of various indie bands, mainly unheard by me,and 1 track and voice stood out like a beacon in the fog.I quickly got the album and found it to be a hidden treasure,i saw them in norwich on the last tour and can,t wait till the escala comes around. Most of the big venues and bands have been done now and i find myself drawn to the smaller venue and the wonderful indie scene we now have and love. One thing i must say here is ,when we saw them in norwich there was a wonderfully loud and talented new band supporting, seen them 3 times now and brilliant they are too,the Joy Formidable, see them if you can they are great.
