Wow. Just wow.
Some stunning pictures, I found myself saving quite a few of them. And they were looking stunning. But why are only Juanita and Brendan on them?

Shit review.Homey has no clue what he's talking about. He obviously has no idea how to listen to music. All the new stuff is great, and no, I'm not trying to impress anybody. Straight from me heart, truth. Sioux sounds like the most beautiful lullaby you could ever possibly want to hear. When the guys add their voices to it, it is so effective at creating such a trippy and surreal sound. Much the same way they do in Let's Be Kids, which is why I like that song. I think a lot of people are just unable to accurately hear and process music. (Backup)

Agree mattchew - a terrible review. And, yes, Sioux is gorgeous - hardly "lacking in atmosphere and ethereal beauty"! I love that dreamy Smiths-like guitar playing.

Yeah, the review was kinda ultimate shit, yet it was oddly entertaining. Talk about backlash, eh? I haven´t seen any Bells-gigs so I don´t know if they are/were worthy of that kind of blasting. I wonder what has happened to Tim Lee. Maybe a band member stole his girlfriend or something.
"...crash into a tree. And then catch on fire. And then get squashed by a falling boulder. And then they get pulled from the wreckage by some good ol' mountain boy only to find him unilaterally adopting them to play the part of his porcine life partner. For ever."
"To appear as if you've never actually met the people stood next to you on stage is something else."
"...if the song had been horribly disfigured in a tragic industrial accident and was just making tentative steps towards public rehabilitation, only to be waylaid by people pointing, staring and asking "what has happened to your face?!"
The dude can write a sarcastic and humorous comments all right. Maybe he has sensed that this is the moment in the bands timeline that the hipster UK music press has the right to spit the band in the face and turn their backs. Let´s face it, this is album #3 and it usually means that the bands time has gone in the UK hipster rags, who are looking for the next best band of the planet with a hyped debut-EP to prove it. Too bad it had to happen already.

I think those quotes from the review are my main problem with it. It almost seems like he has a pre-written collection of these "witticisms" and uses them where he believes they are appropriate. They certainly don't match my perception of what was going on that night.

I watched the videos and the gig looked fine to me. Certainly not 1/5 star-gig, like that w###er tries to say. 1/5 gig requires that audience boo at the band, walk away and maybe even throw stuff at the band. Like there is something to loathe or the performance is totally unprofessional. It doesn´t look like that all. Pretty ordinary and pro-looking gig in my eyes.

'Tim Lee Tim doesn't like biogs. He doesn't think you'd be interested, and is slightly wary if you are.'
Well I don't like Tim Lee, and think he huffing well should be wary, coming out with sihz like that. I'm kinda hoping that he'll ''crash into a tree. And then catch on fire. And then get squashed by a falling boulder. And then they get pulled from the wreckage by some good ol' mountain girl only to find her unilaterally adopting him to play the part of his porcine life partner. For ever.''
I mean WTF is this guy? Are his comments inspired by the insults his last ex-girlfriend slung at him?

I saw that MusicOMH is a site that wants to blast Bells all the way. Radio Wars got 2/5 stars and it was dubbed as "...disposable as a Domino's pizza box" in a review by Darren Harvey. Maybe those people have fun times at the office (like small time websites have them, hah) telling jokes about Bells and how to ridicule them more. Isn´t there really any other review of the Scala gig? That sad MusicOMH-site is clearly not to be trusted. I want a second opinion!

riseandfall's review on his blog is just as relevant as one by a man from a website that believes it is more important than it is, and who seems to have swallowed a book of insults and doesn't know how to put normal words together in proper sentences.

Yes, I know that riseandfall´s blog is indeed great and in-depth.
It´s just that the only review from the non-fan "real" music press is a piece of garbage. The band deserves something better and truthful.

^Truly. My thoughts exactly. Funny how the Spinner interview is post-gig but fails to really go into it at all. And woot's with all these outdated photos already? NME 09? Lazy! The Bells all look better than they did 2 yrs ago as well IMO. edit: This now on an aussie site Tonedeaf - Howling Bells Announce New AlbumPlease tell me that isn't another two year old stock foto?

Charlatan wasn't catching on with me at first, but after letting it set in I think the verse and chorus are really good. The start of it kinda reminds me of Blessed Night. Edit: Actually, I meant it reminds me of Broken Bones, but I'll leave the BN link there anyway. ;D New song Secrets sound excellent as well. Edit: I think Secrets might be the bird song.
