If you can't stand waiting for the next HB album here's a band which proably makes the waiting worthwhile for you - as it does for me: Warpaint. I guess HB fans will like them. A small article about them in German Rolling Stone raised my interest yesterday. I went to their MySpace site, listened to their first single "Undertow" from their first, forthcoming full length album "The Fool" - and was completely overwhelmed. Multi-layered vocals and harmonies, cool female voices, loadsa guitars, bass and drums interact perfectly, great sense for song dynamics etc. etc. Their website site says: "They weave intricate guitar lines, hypnotic vocals, and driving post-punk rhythms into gorgeous, sprawling songs that skirt the line between the soundscapes of psychedelia and intimacy.". This is definitely the discovery of the year for me. Their MySpace site: www.myspace.com/worldwartour"Undertow" can be downloadd for free (if you're willing to give away an email address) from their official website: www.warpaintwarpaint.com/and here's a video of a song called "Elephants" from their first EP from 2009:

The album's out.
Shadows is probably the most amazing thing I've heard all year, what a band.

Sounds good! Can't wait for my CD order to arrive. I played "undertow" to death already and it's spinning in my head all day. What a song! Hopefully: what an album! Definitely: what a band!!!

I've recorded the stuff on their Myspace page (but don't tell anyone in case it's illegal) and listened to it a few times. It's certainly different!
Undertow grabbed me immediately but the other songs took a couple of listens. The only one I didn't like was "Ashes to Ashes", but that's not their song so I'll overlook that. So I might be buying that CD too before long!

It is different, indeed. I'm a bit surprised about the overall direction and the sometimes experimental compositions on the new album, I didn't expect that after the release of Undertow (wich certainly is the most accessible song). I really takes some time to dig the other songs. The opener Set Your Arms Down is a stunner, as well as Shadows. Sometimes the songs seem a bit over-ambitious to me, e.g. the song Warpaint, but maybe it needs some more listens. Still, a fantastic album.

I saw these guys at a festival here called Laneway! I think that was this year. I caught them again a few months back when they came back to Aus. The drummer is an aussie and I got to meet her as well the guitarist I ended up backstage actually... I'm not even sure how it happened but Yeasayer, Two Door Cinema Club and Ariel Pinks Haunted Graffiti were lurking around. I got a photo with all of them! I was absolutely star strucked!

Warpaint is awesome! Their album requires some patience, but the more I listened, the more I got into it. I'd definitely recommend.

Just HOW GOOD?!? is the new / second Warpaint Album (self titled)!! I purchased on sight as a 'must buy' after one listen of single Love is To Die, and have been spinning since... In fact I also just bought tix for their Leeds show in March(edit - sorry this is February actually. I've too many gigs coming up!). Not seen them live beyond the telly so I'm stoked for that... 'The Fool' was cool and creative and I've always viewed them as a talented bunch but similarly to the above comment I never totally 'got' it; at least not like 'Warpaint' which is just a whole new level; feels more whole and rounded, and the vocals, just fantastic. I'm pretty sure a few people on here will find a lot of appeal in album 2... Not taken this one to my car and cranked it up yet but from what my Denon's are telling me the phenomenal bass is still in place. This band shake things around more than any other I know...

I'm going to probably sound crazy but I don't fully 'get' Warpaint.
All my friends that share the same music interest love them and I'm not convinced yet. I own The Fool and I adore 'Undertow' and I played it to death but beyond that I couldn't connect with the rest of the record... It has all the hallmarks of the music I love but I dunno why I can't connect to it
I downloaded 'Love is to Die' the other day and found it quite meh to be frank. I'll listen to the album on Spotify and see what I think...
I did get a few songs from this new band, The September Girls which I actually quite like abc they are not too dissimilar to Warpaint
